Nimbochromis linni is a species which mainly can be found in rocky environments and also in the intermediate zones from rocks to sand in the entire lake. The aquarium should have enough space for them because they can grow to an average size of 25-30 cm. In the end of 2016 Thimo bought a young foursome of this species, then they were about 5-6 cm and the gender difference not clear. Meanwhile (mid- 2017) he has a nice group in his tank from 1 male and 3 females. I also decided to place 1 male in my tank to eat young fish in my tank because I always have a lot of them. The male in Thimo´s tank is about 16 cm at this time, mine is 14 cm. In the middle of 2017 I´ve also placed some females in my tank. They are showing themselves quite good in both tanks and both males and females are showing their characteristic hunting behavior which is very nice to see. Because of this there are barely no young fish in both tanks. Up till now the male in Thimo´s tank is very tolerant against his female. They are also very tolerant against the other inhabitants and they have also been accepted by the other fish in this tank however I need to change something in my tank because I´m a little scared they start hunting also the smaller sized fish (up to ± 7-8 cm) in this tank like for example the females of Aulonocara jacobfreibergi "Otter Point". Nimbochromis linni is a predator which is mainly feeding itself with young fish in the lake. So we´re dealing here with a species which likes eating fish. It´s important to offer him regularly such kind of food like living small fish, mysis, krill, artemia, shrimpmix and they eat a lot of young fish when we keep them with mbuna. |
